I have been watching the military channel lately. I have come to the conclusion that the military is brainwashing its soldiers, indirectly. What? I just found this out? YES. Don’t judge me. It is also a most necessary evil.
There is no honor in war. War is a method of getting rid of people we don’t like. It’s a legitimate reason, too. There are some pretty insane cultures out there. Some don’t have the morals that we as Americans do, and that threatens them. Scares them. They don’t understand why we are so successful and take offense by our ideals and ways of going into their countries and killing them. We want oil. What are they going to do with it? They’re a third world country anyway.
How are we as a civilization going to accomplish tasks without war? The government would be powerless without thugs to back them up. Negotiation is futile. One side will eventually break down and decide they want it all. The British decided they wanted to control baby America and our resources. They went all in. Luckily we were so far away from their homeland that we kicked their ass. The French also decided that they wanted more that Britain, so they joined our side for a while. The Japanese also wanted a part in Hitler’s “new reich” so they bombed pearl harbor. Hitler decided Germany wasn’t enough for him so he took all the surrounding countries. The Spanish fought the Indians because they wanted resources as well. They saw the opportunity and took it.
For the oddest reason, the United States has kicked everyone’s ass. I think this is because our morals are better than anyone elses. If we didn’t have that hope of freedom, returning to our families, and being able to speak our minds, we probably could not kick as much ass as we do. Until someone else comes up with better morals than us, or our society falls apart, we will continue to kick ass for as long as possible.
War is terrible. It is emotionally devastating. It is traumatizing killing other human beings. There is currently no better alternative to war. The only way to prepare for war is being “brainwashed” by the military, to get into the mindset of war. It’s a damn good system too. We keep kicking ass, right?
I never want to have to participate in war. Other people are kicking ass protecting this cushy lifestyle for us, and that is ok. I could see some honor in doing what no one else will do. That’s cool. I would like to not have that honor. I see some mediation between people who are for the military and against it. Nobody is pro war. In this time it is something that must be done. Has to be done.
It’s kinda like cleaning the toilet. Someday your crap will spill over the rim and stink to high heaven. It is going to get cleaned and you may not be the one to clean it, but it still gets done. And this is the way our world works.
